This week I've been in four states. I've noticed one overwhelming thing. The annual pilgrimage down to Daytona and trailer week has begun. Oh wait! I should have said bike week....yeah that's it.
Today up in Indiana I saw countless trailers loaded down with bikes. I saw pick up trucks with bikes. I saw enclosed trailers with every brand of bike written on the outside. Oh and lest I forget I saw four.......yes four bikes being ridden south. Here is the score.......one Goldwing pulling a one wheeled trailer.......one Road King Custom with a coverall clad driver and a HUGE RED duffle bag. Lastly there were two Electra Glides being ridden by leather covered bikers. As for the trailers.........well you name it and I've seen them.
I must admit that I'm ashamed to say I trailered down to Daytona back in the late 90's. I know I know.......it still haunts me. Perhaps that's why I divorced her.....yeah that's it........she wouldn't ride to bike week......Been there done that....didn't care for all the traffic. Granted I was wanting to be riding Doll Baby just like those four people today instead of driving that Damn Freight Truck. I need to find some other means of support so I can ride more. Work keeps getting in the way of my scooter time.
Hey I know I'm poking fun at the people trailering down but at least they are getting to enjoy their scooters. I can't argue about that at all. If I had the time I would be right there on the road going someplace new or perhaps a favorite haunt of old. In fact I don't even care what your ride of choice is just as long as you ride.

I finally discovered your blog Ronman! If you can put up with my wise-yankee-ass, I look forward to stopping by for your ramblings. I'm glad u find mine entertaining.
About the pilgrimage South to Bike Week...damn do I wish I was going. I'd give just about anything, but I just can't do it. The ride's still got a few more weeks to go in the shop - probably because some jackass keeps adding more new toys on to it. My right leg's still not up to a major haul yet either.
It was still nice to hear about it though...what's that they say...live vicariously through others? Guess that'll have to do 'er for now.
My respects to you and all who hail from the home of my favorite sippin' whiskey.
Ronman, We see bikers and trailers often around bike events. Hwy 231 comes right through Montgomery, and there is nothing worse than going out for lunch, and seeing at least 20 to 30 different bikes or trailers traveling through, heading south to FL, during my hour break. And, they expect me to go back to work? I usually do, very reluctantly. Like you, I need my job to support my Harley habit. Lady R
I hear ya RonMan...here in New England Winter still has its icy grip around our throats. Riding anywhere...anyplace would be welcome. I hope this years Daytona carnage is not as bad as years past. Now a days i pass on the party sceen in favor of solo rides. Been there, done that..and survived! -Crusty
Lady R: You should be driving down the road and see um.....it's sorta tough to be two states away from your scooter and have to watch others ride. Head north on 231 and come ride in our hills and hollers......
Crusty: I'm with ya on the party....Ijust can't drink a fifth in one sitting like I use to......
Joker: Stop in anytime........oh and which of the two legal whiskey's are you speaking of.......I myself am a Tennessee Squire so I drink the good stuff from Moore County........I especially like the Gentleman version.......now that's sweet as your mother's love........

Definitely Jack...when I can afford to splurge.
As much as I hate to admit it, I am forced to settle for Jim Beam sometimes just due to the difference in cost. The sacrifice in taste is...considerable!
