Things of late and dreams live on

Ok so I haven't had much to say lately. Reminds me of that Brian Burns line "don't make a record if you don't have nothing to say". Well I haven't really had anything much to say. I have made a change to Doll Baby.

That's right she is now toned down with her original stock pipes on her. Could it be my age creeping up on me again? I'm really not sure but she is a more mellow gal now. I still have the Vance and Hines Ovals that I can slip back on her if she needs to rumble again.

It has been decided that I won't be making the dream ride up to Maine this May. There are some non scooter related issues that require I not drift that far away from home. I guess I've been putting off writing about it so that I could not make it sound real.

Never fear I'll still be riding for those ten days in May. I'm kicking around the idea of doing the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway including Skyline Drive. This is one of the major things on my to do list. I'm thinking it could be a prime time to make this happen. Still not certain if this will be a solo effort or if I'll have company.

Another thing on the big list is collecting all the Tennessee State Parks. I'm thinking this will take up part of the ten days in May. In any event I'm sure I'll find something good to go and see. Hopefully taking lots of pictures to share here on the ole blog. My only goal is to ride as much as I can and to stay within a day's ride of home.

Oh and I've added something else to the giant to do list. I've decided that I really need to ride and meet all my blogging pals at some point or other. Granted a few of them may not happen seeing as they are over seas. How great is it to have all these folks who share in two passions? Riding and Writing. Come to think of it we may have a new R to add to the three R's. Riding Reading and Writing. There ya go.

All I have been doing is scheming to find a job that will let have the freedom to ride more often...maybe that is retirement. I know I'll find it. My only fear regarding meeting up with the bloggers is that they might not like me in person. lol. Simply a risk that must be taken I guess.

I know how you feel. I had big plans to tour this year, but like you, I have issues that must keep me local. Maybe I would have been robbed or killed or some other horrible thing had I gone to Milwaukee this year, who knows. Everything happens for a reason.

Reading Dave's Sturgis chronicle over at his blog Road Grits Cafe has me itching to go out there this year. Unless a miracle takes place, that's not gonna happen either. I'm going to look at the bright side and think about how close I came to losing my foot last fall and be glad I can ride down to the corner store this summer!

You'll have your 10 days in May and we'll both have plenty of rides with our HOG chapters. We'll have others on our own. The point is, we will have them, and that's a good thing.

Now, I'm still waiting to hear the story behind poor ol' Uncle Joe and the corn incident at Stucky's...that's something to write about, isn't it?

I want to do the IronButt Rally someday. That is a dream for me, and maybe a stupid one. Just got to try it once. I wouldn't mind meeting some of the bloggers either, only problem is I get along with everyone, they don't all get along with me. heh.

Sorry to here about the Maine trip bud. I know you were looking forward to it. No fear, maybe I can take a few days off so you and I can do some soul searching with just the guys. Leaving the accessory at home. See you tomorrow night.

The great East Coast Blogger Brigade is forming in my head. Maybe for 2009 or 2010. Liz up in New Hampshire can start riding south and pick up bloggers on her way to an Alabama style Bar-B-Q at Lady R and Harley's place. I hope Steve Williams can get the Vespa up to cruising speed! Joker will have to promise not to crash or wear pink chaps. Do you think MBI will sponser the ride and pay for the food? Maybe we can get sponsers like LeatherUp.com to supply cheap riding gear. Maybe we can support Breast Cancer Research and all wear pink leather. This is gonna be great. We will finally meet each other. Who is in?

Wooo Hooo! Sounds like a plan is beginnig to form here! We can have some good ol' southern style BBQ here, that's so good, it'll make you wanna slap yo mama! After everyone gets sufficiently stuffed, we'll just tour around this great big beautiful place we call Dixie!

Ron, last year H and I went up to North Georgia and traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. We were not disappointed! We were all the way up to the Northeast corner of Georgia, dipped our toes in North and South Carolina, before we started heading back West to return to Alabama.

Road Captain, you sound like a man who knows how to organize! That means you've got a project to work on. We can all help! Who's up for it! Lady R

As long as it's in '09 or 10 I'm in!

Maybe by then I'll be able to afford a tricked out Ultra Classic with a full basement and a garage.

Skyline Dr is awesome, and I am dying to visit the rest of the Blue Ridge Parkway...but I have gotten a few words of warning about travel in that region this year. I wouldn't want you to run into a big mess just because you didn't know:
1-Skyline Drive road work
http://www.nps.gov/shen/parknews/shenandoah-national-park-to-begin-skyline-drive-road-reconstruction.htm
2-a rock slide has forced closure of sections of Blue Ridge Pkwy
http://www.virtualblueridge.com/news-and-events/news-267.asp

Check out the links, there some valuable information about it.

Sorry to hear you have been grounded. Hope you get in some good local riding anyway. :-)

PS - I am definitely in on the blogger brigade too!

Have you ever ridden through the Smoky Mtn. National Park? I lived in Walland for 10 years and it is heaven there to ride. Hey, come out to Seattle and we can meet up. I'm harmless and you don't look too scary. I love to hear about Tennessee.

Road Captain: Keep us posted as the plan comes together. Now that should be some great blogging fodder.

LadyR: I love north Ga. Some of the folks I ride with take a trip to Helen, Ga. every year. What happens in Helen stays in Helen.....lol

Mrs. R.C.: Thanks for the info about the Blue Ridge Parkway. As for local riding...I concider anything within a days ride as local. In fact thought abuot heading up to Delaware just so I can add that state to the list.

Becky: Thanks for not thinking I look scary. If you only knew how bad I want to ride to Seattle. I have some friends out there. That is the only place I've ever been to that I fell in love with. Kicked around the idea of moving out there for a little while. Shoot me an email sometime Becky.
